Allahabad: Two persons have been awarded death sentence, while six others sentenced for life imprisonment in a murder case by a fast track court here.

The order was passed by Fast Track Court Judge D P N Singh yesterday, who awarded death sentence to Prabhakar Singh and Kamlakar Singh, both brothers, for the murder of Kaushal Kishore Tiwari.
Six others – Devsharan Singh, Ramnarain Singh, Rajnarain Singh, Narendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Singh and Rajbahadur Singh – have been sentenced for life for colluding in the murder and, later, trying to destroy the evidence.

Tiwari, a former Gram Pradhan of Chhapar village of the district, had gone missing on December 13, 2002.

An FIR was lodged and his body, with the head and both legs severed, was found stuffed inside a sack dumped in a river in Rewa district of the neighbouring state of Madhya Pradesh on December 21.

Tiwari’s mutilated body was identified by his brother Raj Kumar, who subsequently lodged another FIR on December 24 naming the convicts, who had been nursing a grouse against the deceased ever since he became the Gram Pradhan, as accused.
All the accused were arrested on January 15, 2003. Weapon used for murder, an axe and a dagger, were also recovered from their possession.
