Barabanki: Two policemen were sent to police lines after a man called for interrogation at police station died under mysterious circumstances in Satrikh area, a senior official said.

Superintendent of Police Abdul Hameed said that Ram Suresh was called at Satrikh police station for interrogation in connection with a murder case in Gehdawar village on May 23.

Ram Suresh`s wife Kaushalya also came with him, he said, adding that Suresh left the police station complaining of stomach ache and took some medicine from a doctor.

Suresh`s stopped at a hotel and asked for water where his condition deteriorated, the SP said.

He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead, the SP said, adding Suresh`s wife Kaushalya had alleged that he died due to police torture.

On Kaushalya`s complaint, a case has been lodged against two policemen Amar Bahadur and Ram Gopal posted at Satrikh police station and they have been sent to police lines so that investigation was not affected, Hameed said.

However, the post mortem report has not indicated towards any physical injury and there was suspicion that Suresh might have died of heart attack, the SP said.
