40-year-old physically challenged man attempts suicide in UP

A 40-year-old physically challenged man allegedly attempted suicide accusing the health department officers of harassing him for issuing certificate of being a handicapped, a senior officer said.

Bhadohi: A 40-year-old physically challenged man allegedly attempted suicide accusing the health department officers of harassing him for issuing certificate of being a handicapped, a senior officer said here.

Chotte Lal Yadav stabbed himself several times in the district hospital yesterday, accusing Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) Abdul Wahid and doctor Pradeep Yadav for harassing him, Superintendent of Police Vikramaditya Sachan said.

Yadav had alleged that he was being asked to give Rs 5,000 as bribe for issuing a handicapped certificate, he said.

The SP said that cross FIRs had been lodged from both the sides.
While the FIR against health officers has been registered for provoking to commit suicide, doctor Pradeep has lodged a complaint for disrupting in government duty.

He said that Yadav was admitted to the district hospital where his condition was stated to be serious.

Chief Medical Officer Zubair Ahmad said that the CMS had been written to for Yadav`s work.
