Lucknow: The District Magistrate of Lucknow banned the public display of firecrackers in the Uttar Pradesh capital on Tuesday, in the wake of the tragedy at Puttingal Devi temple in Kerala's Kollam.

109 people were killed and more than 350 injured in the fireworks tragedy at the temple.

The Lucknow DM has banned the use of firecrackers at all public events in the state capital.

However, there is no ban on bursting of firecrackers by private individuals.

 

It may be noted that the ban is limited just to Lucknow, and is not applicable in other parts of the state.
