Akhilesh resorting to rhetoric to divert attention: BSP

Lucknow: Terming the two-month-old Akhilesh Yadav government a "total failure on all fronts," BSP on Friday alleged that it was resorting to cheap rhetoric to divert people's attention from the dismal law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh and its failure to fulfill poll promises.

"The SP which came to power by offering allurements like laptops and doles, is finding it hard to run the government," Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya told newspersons.

The frustration of being unable to fulfill poll promises was seeping into the government and forcing its leaders to issue baseless statements and level unfounded charges on the Mayawati government, the BSP leader alleged.

On a day when Yadav is holding his first review meeting on law and order, Maurya released a list of criminal cases registered in the recent past and asked him to devise a concrete strategy to deal with the situation, "or else this meeting would have no meaning".

Advising Yadav to take a cue from Mayawati, Maurya said he should also hold officials accountable and not bow down before them or shield goondas who are enjoying patronage.

The BSP leader also termed Akhilesh Yadav's much publicised "janata darshan" as a drama which came to an end in just two month's time.

To a question whether BSP would demand judicial inquiry into the various allegations of scam levelled against its government, Maurya said it was not required as no there was no scam.

"The CBI inquiry is on and in the meantime no comments are required on the subject," he said, expressing displeasure over the statements by SP leaders including Yadav, that the truth would come out.

Swami Prasad Maurya is saying that pevious government did not rob state exchequer but officer of principal secretary rank did not deny allegations, he was acting as link and bound to do whatever directed. Whether this is not duty of ongoing government to unearth the wrongdoings of outgoing governments. Whether maurya will tell the people of state , why mayawati did not accept the centre proposal of C.B.I. Investigation of works carriedout under MGNREGA.
