Akhilesh vs Shivpal: UP CM cancels all public events in Lucknow after stripping 'uncle' of key portfolios

Lucknow: With Samajwadi Party showing internal cracks as fued between Akhilesh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Yadav escalated into bitter war, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday cancelled all his meetings scheduled for the day.

As per the report, CM Akhilesh Yadav, who had to address two public functions in Lucknow today, cancelled both his appointments and reached his Kalidas Marg residence.

According to another media report, Samajwadi supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav asked his son Akhilesh and brother Shivapal to reach Delhi, in a bid to break the deadlock between the duo.

Mulayam has reportedly called a 'patch-up' meeting at his Delhi residence and has asked Akhilesh and Shivpal to resolve the dispute.

Amid talks of his resignation from the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, Shivpal Yadav, who was stripped off three key ministries by CM Akhilesh yesterday, told media today that he will abide by whatever decision Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav makes about him, as the state's people 'are with the leader Mulayam.'

“I will talk to Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) before taking a decision,'' he told reporters today.

He, however sought to downplay the signs of growing fissures in the Samajwadi Party. Everything is okay within the party, Shivpal told reporters.

CM Akhilesh yesterday defied his father, Mulayam, by taking away key portfolios from Shivpal, who's Mulayam's favourite brother. Mulayam had sought to install Shivpal as UP party chief, in son Akhilesh's place.

The family feud within the Samajwadi Party has escalated even as all parties are preparing for Assembly polls in UP, scheduled for early next year.
