Sitapur (UP): Five policemen, including
a Station House Officer, were suspended on Wednesday after a man,
arrested in connection with a murder case, allegedly died in
police custody.
SHO (Tambore) Rishi Dev, SOG in-charge Anjani Kumar
Pandey and three constables were suspended in connection with
the alleged custodial death, officials said.
A case of murder was registered against the five, they
said adding the incident happened in Sakran Police Station.
Zabbar, aged 30, arrested yesterday in connection with
the murder of his cousin last week, allegedly died in police
custody.
He was declared brought dead to hospital.
Family members alleged he was beaten to death by
police.
When contacted SP Piyush Mordia said he was looking
into the matter. "We are waiting for the post-mortem report."
