Jaunpur: BSP MP Dhananjay Singh, who was
arrested in connection with a double murder case, was on Monday
remanded in 14 days` judicial custody by a local court which
also rejected his plea seeking permission to attend the
ongoing session of Parliament.
"Dhananjay was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate
Ashraf Ansari, who send him to judicial custody for 14 days
and fixed December 23 as the next date of hearing," the
prosecution said.
He was arrested from Lucknow yesterday in connection with
a double murder in Kerakat area of Jaunpur district in which a
contractor Sanjay Nishad and tea vendor Nandlal were shot dead
on April 1 last year.
During court proceeding, the MP while referring to
parliamentary rules contested that he was arrested without
informing the speaker.
He also raised objection over transfer of double
murder case to Gorakhpur unit of CB-CID from Varanasi unit.
Singh requested the court to allow him to attend the
ongoing session of the parliament in judicial custody, which
was turned down by the court.
Later, while being taken to jail the MP accused Uttar
Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of attempting to malign his
image by implicating him in false cases.
Singh said he was ready to undergo any scientific test
for the truth to come to light.
Dhananjay, was suspended from BSP on September 24 on
charges of anti-party activities but his suspension was
revoked a few days before the winter session of UP Assembly in
November.
