Lucknow: Azamgarh district administration on Saturday cancelled permission to all scheduled programmes of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi due to communal tension in nearby Mubarakpur area.

Reacting to district administration's decision, Owaisi said, “The administration is scared. I was in two districts today and there were absolutely no issues.”

“Since Mulayam Singh Yadav is the MP from Azamgarh, the district administration is under pressure,” he added.

Communal tension in Mubarakpur erupted after food was allegedly served on papers which quoted the Quran at a snack stall.

Eyeing on UP Assembly elections, Owaisi today began his two-day tour to five districts. He will visit districts like Balrampur, Sidharth Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar and Jaunpur.
