Muzaffarnagar: A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced on Wednesday for information about the miscreants who opened fire at a patrolling team at Biralsi village in the district three days ago, police said.
A case has been registered against eight unidentified miscreants for firing at a patrolling team after their car was intercepted and checked near Biralsi village under Charthawal police station on Monday, Inspector General of Police of Meerut zone Alok Sharma said.
Reward of Rs 50,000 has also been announced for information about the culprits, he said.
The miscreants attacked the police party with fire arm and some sharp-edged weapons in which two police constables, Lakhpat and Dinesh sustained bullet and weapon injuries respectively. Two police rifles and 40 cartridges were looted by the culprits in the attack.
Security checks have been heightened along the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana border following the incident, police added.
