Attack on Tablighi Jamaat members: Another accused arrested

One more accused has been arrested in connection with an attack on members of Tablighi Jamaat community on May 1 in neighbouring Shamli district, police said Thursday.

Muzaffarnagar: One more accused has been arrested in connection with an attack on members of Tablighi Jamaat community on May 1 in neighbouring Shamli district, police said Thursday.

Accused Amit Kumar was arrested yesterday, police said.

This is the second arrest in the case, earlier Sunil, a resident of Bawli village in Baghpat district, was arrested on May 10.

One of the victims Farok Ali had lodged a complaint with the railway police alleging that miscreants had beaten up five members of the community, misbehaved with them and robbed their belongings on board a Delhi-Kandhla train.

After the incident, angry protesters from the community gheraoed the Kandhla police station and pelted stones besides setting some vehicles on fire on May 2.

Police have registered several cases in connection with the case.
