Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan, who has alleged that he was receiving threats because of Governor Ram Naik's statements, refused to join in the high-tea function at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

The high-tea was organised for the swearing-in of Chief Information Commissiner (CIC) and the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and other senior ministers and bureaucrats attended the function, by Khan left the place without joining in high-tea.

When asked about his recent statements aganst the Governor, Azam avoided making any statement.

Later, when asked, the Governor refused to comment on the issue, saying, "You can ask anything related to this programme."

On the letter written by Azam to him, Naik said, "When he has released it in media and made it public, I have nothing to say."

On Azam leaving without joining the high-tea, Naik asked the reporters to tell him about the "arrangements".

"I hope you have taken the tea..You must tell him that the arrangements were good," Naik said.

Azam had last week accused Governor vitiating the atmosphere in the state at the behest of BJP government at the Centre and said he will approach President Pranab Mukherjee to apprise him of Naik's actions.

Khan, who has been locked in a war of words with the Governor, claimed he was receiving threats because of Naik's statements. The senior Samajwadi Party leader alleged that the Governor was "acting and behaving like 'kar sevaks' who were responsible for the demolition of Babri mosque".

Khan had recently written a four-page letter to Naik in which he had accused the Governor of having a "continued negative" approach against him and making "politically motivated" statements on the vexed Ayodhya issue.
