The accused, Avanish Yadav, was arrested late Monday night from Bareilly junction and is expected to be produced before court tomorrow.
However, he has pleaded innocence and claimed that he was being framed.
"Yadav, along with his colleague, sexually assaulted a minor girl. A case was registered against him but he had fled the area. Today, we received information and in a joint operation with the team from Badaun, we arrested Yadav from a temple outside the railway station here," Bareilly City Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mehrotra told ANI.
The second accused Veer Pal Singh Yadav continues to be absconding and hunt is on to trace him.
The horrific incident took place on New Year's eve when the 14-year-old girl had stepped out of her house to relieve herself.
The accused then reportedly took her inside their car to the police station and raped her. She was dropped back at her village later after her condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the victim.
The two accused constables have also been dismissed from the service.
