Ballia: Opposition Samajwadi Party on Thursday asked
its workers to be ready for Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh
any time as the Mayawati government could go in for early
elections.
"The Mayawati government is alarmed over deteriorating
situation in the state and can have the polls earlier than
its scheduled time (early next year)," SP General Secretary
Ram Gopal Yadav said at a state-level convention of party
workers here.
He charged the chief minister with committing atrocities
on farmers in the name of land acquisition and alleged that
corruption has been institutionalised by the BSP government.
