Beni Prasad demands CBI probe into Sachan’s death

Union Minister of State for Steel Beni Prasad Verma demanded a CBI probe into the mysterious death of a top medical officer in Lucknow jail.

Steel Beni Prasad Verma on Sunday demanded a CBI probe into the
mysterious death of a top medical officer in Lucknow jail.

"The post-mortem report is crystal clear and it proves
that Y S Sachan was tortured due to which he died. Mayawati
government should immediately order a CBI probe to expose
those behind the act," Verma told reporters.

The post mortem revealed nine injury marks on the
body, including neck, elbows, thigh and wrist.
Terming Mayawati as a "dictator", Verma said that in
a democracy, public sentiments were valued unlike what
Mayawati was doing.

"The state agency cannot conduct a fair investigations
and its leaders and officers are involved in the murder," the
Congress leader alleged, adding the party would take out a
`Nyay Yatra` rally tomorrow to press for justice to Sachan`s
family.

"The name of two former BSP ministers are coming in
the case of which one is very close to Mayawati. If there is
no involvement of BSP men and officers, why the state
government is hesitating on CBI probe," he said.
Prime accused in the murder of CMO B P Singh, deputy
chief medical officer Y S Sachan was found dead in a jail
hosptial on Jun 22 and the State Cabinet Secretary Shashank
Shekhar had said prima facie it was a case of suicide.
