Bhati murder case: CBI raided DP Yadav's house in Ghaziabad

A CBI team from Dehradun along with local police raided the house of former minister DP Yadav in Rajnagar area here after a CBI court held him guilty in Janata Party leader Mahendra Singh Bhati murder case of 1992, police said on Thursday.

DySP Ran Vijay Singh said that CBI special court at Dehradun had issued a non-bailable warrant against Yadav after his conviction in the 23-year-old murder case.

A seven-member-CBI team reached Ghaziabad last night and requested Senior Superintendent of Police to provide local police assistance to execute the non-bailable warrant against Yadav.

"I was instructed by the district police chief to accompany the CBI Dehradun team along with police force from Kavi Nagar Police station," he said.

"During the raid at his Raj Nagar residence, Yadav's father informed that he has gone to his sugar mill. After collecting some information from his father the CBI team went back," he said.

Earlier on Saturday, the CBI special court in Dehradun held Karan Yadav, Pranit Bhatti, Pal Singh and politician D P Yadav guilty of killing Bhati in the Dadri area of Ghaziabad in 1992.

A charge sheet was submitted by the CBI against eight persons in this case but four accused died during the trial.

Yadav did not appear in court on Saturday on medical grounds.

Three accused present in the court were sent to jail after judicial pronouncement.

Court's verdict on quantum of punishment will be announced on March 10.
