Big political names suffer a jolt in Mathura Panchayat polls
Stalwarts of different political parties in UP got a rude shock after the results of Mathura Panchayat polls were declared.
Mathura: Stalwarts of different political parties here got a rude shock after the results of Panchayat polls here were recently declared.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which has 12 seats out of 38 seats to its credit has to swallow humiliating defeat as wife of its sitting MLA lost in Panchayat elections from ward No 38.
"Immediately after counting, my wife Vimlesh Rawat was told that she had won however when my counting agents came out then Om Kumari was declared elected by a margin of 32 votes. My request for recounting was not entertained",Rajkumar Rawat sitting BSP MLA said.
Incidentally, the area from where Rawat's wife contested falls in his erstwhile Gokul Vidhan Sabha constituency that elected him in 2007 Vidhan Sabha election.
The Panchayat poll results for BJP, which have been looking for a massive win in forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections on the basis of Modi wave, were humiliating too.
BJP candidate Harkesh lost her election from ward no. 34, under which Rawal, the adopted village of BJP MP celebrity Hema Malini falls.
Similarly, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) district president, Satya Pal Chaudhary who contested from ward no 37 also lost in the recent polls.
Even for Samajwadi party, the results were bitter-sweet, since son of Tulsi Ram Sharma, the district President of Samajvadi Party, Kishor Singh suffered a humiliating defeat where as his wife Kamlesh Singh won.
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) too had to make peace with only 8 seats against 21 seats it had won in the last district panchayat. Anup Chaudhary, the immediate past president of district panchayat also suffered a humiliating defeat in the recent elections from his ward.
District President of RLD, Rajendra Sikarwar, son of former Minister Sardar Singh also lost this Panchayat polls.
