The BJP has registered a complaint with the EC against the Congress for alleged violation of the model code of conduct by airing an ad.
Lucknow: The BJP has registered a complaint with the Election Commission against the Congress for alleged violation of the model code of conduct by airing an
advertisement related to minority welfare schemes.
"An advertisement regarding works done by Prime Minister for minority welfare was aired on the radio immediately after the regional news yesterday," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said on Tuesday.
The party in its complaint faxed to EC claimed that Congress was taking advantage of its position at the Centre by publicising UPA`s schemes in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
"In such a situation this amounts to clear violation of the model code of conduct," the party said, while demanding a ban on such advertisements.
Pathak said the party has asked the EC to conduct an inquiry into the incident and initiate action against those found guilty.
