Muzaffarnagar: Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan on Thursday alleged that BJP was conspiring to demolish Taj Mahal the way its workers brought down Babri mosque in Ayodhya.
"BJP is making conspiracies to demolish Taj Mahal in the same manner it demolished Babri Masjid. They are playing dangerous games. They are trying to divide the country on communal lines and not doing any developmental work," he said.
On the conversion issue, Khan said, "Attempts are being made to convert religion of people. But we should know that Mughals and Britishers, who ruled the country for several years, did not succeed in converting religion of people. Nobody can change it," he said.
He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not express grief over the killings in Assam.
"People were killed in Assam. But the PM did not express grief over it. He had expressed grief over the Pakistan school attack but not over Assam killings," he said.
However, the Union Cabinet, which met yesterday under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, had paid homage to the victims of the cowardly attacks in Assam.
Khan said instead of fulfilling the promises he had made during elections, Modi is travelling abroad.
"He is visiting abroad but not fulfilling the promises he made during elections," Khan said at a programme organised here to distribute identity cards to the beneficiaries of the Samajwadi Party's Pension Scheme.
