Barabanki: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation on Monday met family members of the Barabanki woman who was allegedly set on fire by two policemen.
BJP leaders Meenakshi Lekhi, Lakshmikant Bajpai, Ashwini Chaubey, M J Akbar were part of the delegation along with others.
The Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Barabanki incident, where a woman anganwadi worker was allegedly set on fire by two policemen in the state`s Barabanki district.
The victim`s son had earlier demanded justice for his mother, saying she would only rest in peace when the guilty are punished.
According to reports, the woman had gone to the police station to free her husband, who had been picked up for questioning. When she refused to bribe the policemen in order to release her husband, she was set ablaze.
