Varanasi: BJP on Sunday hit back at Samajwadi Party for levelling allegations against the saffron party leaders that they were extorting money from slaughterhouses in Meerut and Aligarh.
BJP's Uttar Pradesh state unit president Laxmi Kant Bajpai said, "They (SP leaders) should firstly prove this allegations as just levelling such baseless allegations on us doesn't mean anything... Such remarks made by him (SP leader Shivpal Yadav) hold no value and he has no credibility."
Senior SP leader and UP minister Yadav had earlier told reporters in Lucknow that the SP government would give befitting reply to BJP leaders and workers if they create tension in the society.
Alleging that BJP leaders were extorting money from slaughterhouses in Meerut and Aligarh, Yadav had given a one-month ultimatum to BJP leaders (Bajpai and two Union ministers) to mend their ways. He, however, did not disclose the names of the two Union ministers.
On BSP supremo Mayawati's accusation that the Narendra Modi-led government was discriminating against Dalit icons like Kanshi Ram and Jyotiba Phule while awarding Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya, the BJP state unit chief said she should know that Malaviyaji laid the foundation of a university where students belonging to all castes and religions studies.
