Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party`s (BJP) council meeting will begin in Mathura on Saturday in which the party is likely to discuss the issue of `love jihad` in the state.

`Love jihad` refers to the alleged conversion of Hindu girls to Islam for marriage.

The party had also discussed the issue in the meeting of the office-bearers in Vridavan on Friday and ways to tackle it.
The party believes that the phenomenon is fast gaining pace in the areas of western UP and is major cause of concern, as per news report.

While BJP national Amit Shah was earlier expected to attend the meet, it will now be inaugurated by party leader Kalraj Mishra.

The meet will also reportedly discuss the law and order situation in the state and draft action plan for the 2017 Assembly elections.

The meeting comes ahead of the state Assembly bypolls to be held in the state on 12 seats next month.
