BJP suffers defeat in Meerut Cantonment Board polls

The result of the polls were announced yesterday.

The Cantonment Board polls, which were held on June
13, saw candidates from both BJP and Congress participating
along with some Independents.

"We have lost the Cantonment Board polls. We accept
the decision of the public," Lakshmi Kant Bajpai, former state
BJP minister, said.

Following the party`s defeat, Parmatma Saran Consul,
BJP Mahanagar President, has offered his resignation.

The Congress won only one seat, while Independents
bagged seven seats. BJP did not manage to get any seat at all.
