BSP MP case: Court issues NBW against SI

Muzaffarnagar: A local court has issued a
non-bailable warrant against a police sub-inspector for not appearing as a witness in connection with a six-year-old
criminal case against Bahujan Samaj Party MP Kadir Rana and 11
others.
Additional District Sessions Judge SK Banerji issued
the warrant against Vijay Kumar yesterday and directed the
police to produce him before it on March 29.

The case relates to an incident at Shamli town in the
district in 2004.
The BSP MP and 11 others were allegedly involved in
violent protests outside the district magistrate`s house,
protesting the arrest of then BSP candidate Shanawaz Rana for
allegedly violating the code of conduct during Lok Sabha
polls.

The charges framed against the 12 BSP members include
rioting, attempt to murder, violating prohibitory order,
wrongful confinement and assault and criminal force to deter
public servant from discharging his duty.
