BSP slams Akhilesh`s first month in office

BSP attacked the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in UP, accusing it of protecting lumpen elements and of failing to check spiralling crime in the state.

Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Friday attacked the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh, accusing it of protecting lumpen elements and of failing to check spiralling crime in the state.

State president of the BSP and the Leader of Opposition in the assembly, Swami Prasad Maurya led the party`s attack on the SP government and alleged that it was resorting to theatrics by actions like the Janata Darshan.

"The janata darshan is a farce and a way to hoodwink people from the real problems being faced by them ever since the Akhilesh Yadav government has come to power," Maurya said.

When reminded that Mayawati never ever met people of the state like Yadav, the BSP leader retorted that this was false as she had ensured through schemes like Tehsil Diwas that people got justice in their districts itself and did not have to go through the difficulty of coming to Lucknow for redressal of their problems.

Addressing the press after an `appraisal meeting` of the one-month stint of the SP government, the BSP leader, known for his proximity to BSP supremo Mayawati, said there was lawlessness in the state and policemen were being killed and beaten up openly.
