Lucknow: BSP on Thursday lashed out at opposition
leaders including Uma Bharti of BJP for linking its decision
to bring a proposal for division of the state with the coming
assembly elections and termed it as a belated move.
A BSP release issued here said that it is wrong on the
part of the BJP leader to term the decision as a belated move
and one related to the upcoming Assembly elections.
Terming Bharti`s statement as irresponsible, it said
Bharti`s comment shows that she is not aware of the steps
taken by Mayawati in this regard. Her attitude is also
against the interests of the people of the state, it said.
Pointing out that the chief minister has been taking up
the issue with the Centre for a long time, the release said
that had it (Centre) been serious about the state`s interest,
it would have taken up the matter in Parliament long ago.
"If the BJP was really serious for the development of
the state, it would have praised this step of the state
government," it added.
