Campaign against food adulteration to be launched in UP

In the wake of the upcoming Diwali festival, the Uttar Pradesh Food and Drug Authority will launch a special state-wide campaign against sale and manufacturing of adulterated edible items, vegetable oils and ghee.

Lucknow: In the wake of the upcoming Diwali festival, the Uttar Pradesh Food and Drug Authority will launch a special state-wide campaign against sale and manufacturing of adulterated edible items, vegetable oils and ghee, officials sources said.

"On the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, a drive would be launched across the state during which raids would be carried out against food adulteration,"
an official spokesman said here.

During Diwali festival there are possibilities of manufacturing, sale and distribution of adulterated edible items and oils, he said.
"An action plan has been forwarded to all the divisional commissioners and district magistrates, who have been asked to nominate a sub-divisional magistrate as nodal
officers," the spokesman said.

He said that stern action would be taken against those found involved in adulteration and also against officials who are negligent during the campaign.
