Cantt police would now probe into the alleged sexual assault case of a student following dissatisfaction among the victim`s family and locals over the inquiry being conducted by Kalyanpur police, a senior official said.

dissatisfaction among the victim`s family and locals over the
inquiry being conducted by Kalyanpur police, a senior official
said on Friday.
Kalyanpur police will no longer investigate the case and
now the probe will be led by Circle Officer of Cantt police
station Amarjeet Singh under supervision of SSP (crime) A K
Pandey, DIG Kanpur Prem Prakash said.
Prakash said the step was taken after the victim`s family
expressed dissatisfation over the ongoing investigation.
The district administration had already recommended to
the state Home Secretary that an inquiry be conducted by the
CB-CID or any other investigating agency.
The 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at
Bharatiya Gyan Sthali School in Kalyanpur area here on
September 27 after which she died at a hospital the same day,
according to the victim`s family.
Police later claimed to have cracked the case by
arresting their neighbour Munna, the theory which was
dismissed by the girl`s family.
The school`s manager, Chanderpal Verma, and his sons
Mukesh and Piyush have been arrested under section 109
(punishment for abetment) and 304 (A) (causing death by
negligence) of the IPC.
