Case of extortion registered against Gram Pradhan in Muzaffarnagar

A case has been registered against the Gram Pradhan of Morna village and three others for allegedly demanding extortion money from a contractor, police said.

Muzaffarnagar: A case has been registered
against the Gram Pradhan of Morna village and three others for
allegedly demanding extortion money from a contractor, police
said.

Gram Pradhan Mahak Singh and three others had allegedly
demanded Rs 50,000 as extortion money yesterday from the
contractor involved in construction of roads, they said.

The accused also made castiest remarks against him and
threatened him of dire consequences if he did not meet their
demands, police said.

While one accused has been arrested, a probe is on to nab
the Gram Pradhan and others, they added.

In a separate case, three persons, including a newly
elected Gram Pradhan Pushpendra, sustained bullet injuries in
a clash over a minor dispute between two groups at Simli
village in the district yesterday, police said.

An investigation is on to look into the matter, they
said.
