CBI probe in high-security number plates tender

A CBI probe into the alleged bungling in awarding the tender for the high-security number plates to a private firm during the Mayawati regime in UP.

Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday
ordered a CBI probe into the alleged bungling in awarding the
tender for the high-security number plates to a private firm
during the Mayawati regime in Uttar Pradesh.

The high court`s Lucknow bench comprising justices DP
Singh and SC Chaurasia passed the order allowing a writ
petition filed by a Kolkata-based firm, Celex India Private
Limited.

The petitioner`s counsel Gaurav Bhatia alleged that in the
tender procedure, finalised during previous Mayawati regime,
certain conditions were imposed to favour a company, Shimnit
India Private Limited.

The court had earlier reserved its decision after hearing
both the sides last week.
