Muzaffarnagar: A sessions court has framed
charges against 10 persons, including two brothers of BSP MP
Kadir Rana, in a case of rioting and damaging public property,
police said on Wednesday.
Additional district sessions judge C B Singh yesterday
ordered to initiate court proceedings against Zakir Rana and
Haji Malwa along with eight others under Sections 147, 148,
188, 307 and 341 of the IPC, they said.
Several policemen were injured and police outposts were
burnt down in violent protests in Shamli town against the
arrest of Kadir's nephew and then BSP candidate Shahnawaz Rana
in 2004.
The next hearing of the case was fixed on September 26,
they said.
