Kanpur: A couple committed suicide after an argument over their inability to bear child, police said Monday.
Resident of Meston Road here, Shashikant (34) had married Rupali (30) in February 2009. They were upset over not having a child ans Shashikant had taken to alcohol.
"Shashikant consummed posion after an argument with his wife yesterday. The relatives rushed him to hospital, where he died," police said.
Aggrieved by the death of her husabnd, Rupali too committed suicide after consuming poison.
Police has sent their bodies for postmortem and an investigation has been orderd. Rupali`s family has alleged torture by her in-laws.
