Lucknow: Claiming that the clash between PAC
and farmers in Gautam Buddha Nagar was not related to land
acquisition, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday ordered a
CB-CID probe into the incident in which five persons were
injured.

"The incident has nothing to do with land acquisition. It
took place when some unscrupulous elements entered into
scuffle with PAC personnel, who were returning to Lucknow for
ensuring security of Chief Minister Mayawati during her
visit," Additional Cabinet Secretary Ravindra Singh told reporters.

He said that a CB-CID inquiry has been ordered into the
matter.

Chief Minister Mayawati said that the visit of JD(U)
leader Sharad Yadav at the spot, without information was
unfortunate and just an attempt to politicise the issue caused
due to unscrupulous elements.

Five persons, including two PAC jawans were yesterday
injured when they clashed in GB Nagar area.

"Two vehicles of 32nd battalion of PAC were intercepted
by farmers, who were already sitting on dharna in Paswal
village in Damkaul. The farmers indulged in unprovoked brick
batting and opened fire several rounds," Special Director
General Brij Lal had told reporters here.
