Shamli: A major incident of clash between two communities has been reported from Shamli district.

Nine persons were injured in a clash between groups of Dalit and another community over land-related dispute at Mataali village in Shamli district.

What led to clash?

The clash took place on Wednesday when the members of Dalit community tried to prevent another community members from taking possession of a disputed piece of land, Circle Officer Nishank Sharma said. 

Both the groups used sharp-edged weapons and firearms during the clash in which nine persons were injured, he said. 

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and brought situation under control, Sharma said. 

Six arrested over dispute

Six persons were arrested in this connection, the CO added.
