Muzaffarnagar: A 50-year-old cleric was shot dead allegedly by three unidentified persons in Mimlana road locality here, police said on Thursday.
The cleric identified as Maulana Suhel was returning home from the mosque last night when three bike-borne persons shot at him, they said.
He was rushed to district hospital where he was declared dead, they said.
A group of people protested outside the hospital demanding arrest of the culprits following the incident, they said.
Prima facie it appears to be a fallout of old enmity.A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
