Sriganganagar district is situated at Indo-Pak border. "He was leaking information to someone across border on his mobile phone while he was trapped today," Superintendent of Police Sriganganagar, Rupinder Singh said told news agency.

"A localite Sharma (32) was under surveillance for some time and he passed on important information related to Indian Army to Pakistan's intelligence agency because Suratgarh is an important place from strategic point of view," he said.

"Defence units are there and Mahajan firing range is near the area so it is very sensitive matter. The accused has been booked under Official Secrets Act," he added.
