Lucknow: Attributing internal rivalry and
and financial irregularities in the Family Welfare Department
behind the CMO`s killing, the Uttar Pradesh government today
enhanced the reward from Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh for anyone
providing clues about the main suspect in the case.

"There were two main reasons --financial discrepancies
in implementation of the National Rural Health Mission and
internal rivarly in the department -- behind the killng of CMO
B P Singh," UP Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told
reporters here.
"Deputy CMO Y S Sachan of the department has already
been arrested on charges of financial discrepancies and an
inquiry is on," he said.

In the wake of the killing of the CMO, the government
had made certain changes in the implemenation of the National
Rural Health Mission, the Cabinet Secretary said.

Hoping the case would be cracked soon, he said the
the government had enhanced the reward from Rs 50,000 to one
lakh for anyone providing information about Sudhakar Pandey,
the absconding suspect.
Pandey, also named in the murder of another CMO Vinod
Arya in October last year, was on the run after the incident
and was believed to be the main suspect in Singh`s murder, he
said.

CMO Singh was gunned down in posh Gomti Nagar area in
the state capital on April two this year while taking morning
stroll.
