Three persons including a home guard have died of severe cold in different parts of Barabanki since yesterday and the revenue department has directed the district authorities to provide necessary government relief to their family members after taking a report from the concerned lekhpal, a spokesman of the district administration said.
Two youths riding on a motorcycle were killed after their bike hit a truck due to poor visibility in Godari village under Jaidpur police station area of Barabanki last night, police said.
The MeT department said that cold conditions prevailed at isolated places over the state.
Night temperatures appreciably fell in Bareilly division and in Allahabad division, rose in Faizabad division and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.
They were appreciably below normal in Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Allahabad divisions, below normal in Moradabad division and were normal in the remaining divisions of the state.
Lowest minimum temperature over the state was recorded at 2.8 degrees Celsius in Agra.
They forecast that weather would be dry and fog would occur at many places over the state with dense to very dense at few places.
