Committee submits report on revival of anticipatory bail in UP

Lucknow: A high-level committee set up to
go into the issue of reviving the provision of anticipatory
bail in Uttar Pradesh has submitted its report to Chief
Minister Mayawati.

The Committee headed by Chairman of State Advisory
Council Satish Chandra Mishra was constituted last week.

The panel examined issues related to revival of the
system in lower courts, a practice abolished 34 years ago
through an amendment in CrPC, officials said.

The contents of the report were not immediately known.
