Conduct departmental inquiry in illegal detention case:UPHRC

Lucknow: Taking cognisance of an illegal detention of a man, the Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission (UPHRC) has directed the police to conduct a departmental inquiry against three police officers, including a circle officer, officials said here Friday.

"The UPHRC has issued the direction after Mainpuri police illegally detained Jai Kumar Rathore for two years in 2008," he said.

The Commission directed the Inspector General of Police to submit its report within 30 days. It also asked the IGP to issue stern warning to the Superintendent of Police and Circle Officer for their callous attitude.

The officers against whom inquiry has been ordered included--Circle officer K D Singh, SHO city police station Surender Singh and Sub-Inspector Anoop Yadav.
