Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh unit of Congress
party will launch a massive "non-violent" movement to
highlight the Mayawati government`s "failure" to check
increasing crime against Dalits and women in the state.

UPCC President Rita Bahuguna Joshi said the party
would organise Dalit conferences across the state to mobilise
people from backward classes as their interests were being
neglected by the BSP government.

"BSP government is only pretending to be a pro-Dalit
government," she accused.

"Violence against Dalit and women has increased under
this government and the law and order situation has
deteriorated," Josh told reporters at function here last
night.

She said the situation in drought-hit Buldelkhand was
worsening day by day and the "government has no time to look
on the problems of people there as it is busy building statues
and parks".
