Cong MP Sanjay Singh's son arrested in a case of cop's death
Anant Vikram Singh, estranged son of Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, was on Saturday arrested in connection with the killing of a policeman here about nine months back.
Amethi: Anant Vikram Singh, estranged son of Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, was on Saturday arrested in connection with the killing of a policeman here about nine months back.
Police constable Vijay Kumar Mishra had died in firing in September outside the Bhupati Bhawan, whose ownership is being claimed by several people of the royal family of Amethi.
Mishra was part of police deployment outside the Bhawan in Ramnagar area when trouble broke out over the ownership of the property on the fateful day, Superintendent of Police Heera Lal said.
An FIR was registered against hundreds of people including Anant, he said, adding a local court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
Soon after his arrest, Anant was sent to 14 days' judicial custody.
Talking to newspersons at the Piparpur police station where he was taken after the arrest, Anant accused his father Sanjay Singh and his second wife Amita Singh of hatching a conspiracy to get him arrested.
"I have been arrested under a conspiracy and this is the conspiracy of Amita Singh and my father," he said, adding "If anything happens to my mother in my absence, these two will be held responsible for it."
Amita, when contacted, said the arrest was a sad moment for the family. "We (Sanjay and Amita) as parents have been shattered by this incident," she added.
