Lucknow: Congress on Saturday dared Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Mayawati to dissolve the state Assembly and go
in for early elections if she was so confident of her "good
governance."

"If Mayawati wants to check the reality of her claims of
good governance, she should dissolve the state Assembly to
pave the way for early elections," PCC chief Rita Bahuguna
Joshi said, addressing a seminar here.
"Mayawati will realise the truth in the elections," she
said.

At the same time, she said, "We are prepared to free the
state from this government which is known for atrocities and
exploitation."

Citing media reports stating that Uttar Pradesh topped in
the country`s crime list and ranked far below in matters of
health and education, Joshi asked partymen to go to the masses
and expose the government.

"The next Assembly elections in the state will be fought
on the plank of development," she said.

Joshi took the opportunity to attack the previous SP and
BJP governments for the "sorry state of affairs" in the state
and said, "Today, Samajwadi Party is shedding crocodile
tears."
With Assembly elections little over a year away, she said
that selection of right candidates would help the party get
majority.
