demanded that the Uttar Pradesh Assembly session be reconvened
as the abrupt adjournment of the House sine die has created
"constitutional crisis" in the state.
"We want the Centre to immediately intervene as Mayawati
has not only committed contempt of House but also of the
Governor by adjourning the session sine die without giving
time to MLAs to speak. There is constitutional crisis in the
state," Leader of Opposition Shivpal Singh Yadav told
The Governor should immediately convene Assembly session
using his powers, he said.
Yadav`s demand came in the wake of the abrupt adjournment
of the state Assembly sine die after the House adopted a
resolution moved by Chief Minister Mayawati for division of
the state in four parts. A similar resolution was approved by
the Legislative Council.
Alleging that Congress and BSP had tacit understanding,
