Muzaffarnagar: A local court rejected the bail plea of one of the seven persons allegedly involved in abducting and attempting to rape two Delhi girls, statement of one of whom was on Tuesday recorded seven days after the alleged incident.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vikas Goel turned down the plea of Mashroof, one of the seven arrested for the June 21 incident near Vehalna Chowk on Delhi-Dehradun highway in the district, saying the charges against him were non-bailable.

He has been charged with attempt to rape, loot, assault and other offences.

One of the victims and the complainant Gaurav Jain were produced in the court today where their statement was recorded by additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jyotsna Singh.

Seven persons, including two relative of BSP MP Kadir Rana and two personnel security officer of BSP MLA Shahnawaz Rana, have been arrested in connection with the attempted rape of the two girls, which allegedly took place when they were returning to Delhi from Mussoorie along with their two male friends.

Shahnawaz was suspended by BSP supremo Maaywati after the incident.

They stopped at a petrol pump to get their vehicle repaired where a group of seven-eight youths abducted them in a car and took them to a nearby house to rape them at gun point. However, the girls managed to escape.

Nasir Ali, Mashroof's lawyer, said that he would file a bail application in the Sessions Court tomorrow on behalf of his client.
