Muzaffarnagar: A minor Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a farmer, when she had gone to his fields in Madhor village under Shahpur police station in the district, police said here o Saturday.
"The girl (14) had gone to the fields, which belonged to the accused Surender (35). The accused took her to the nearby sugarcane fields and raped her, they said.
While Surender has been arrested, the victim has been sent for medical examination.
Later, some members of the Dalit community gheraoed the police station and expressed anger at the incident, police said.
In yet another incident in the district, body of a 23-year-old girl was found near Hindun river in Budhana town here, police said.
The unidentified body has been sent for postmortem. Police suspect it to be a case of honour killing.
