Ballia (UP): An FIR has been lodged against
13 police personnel, including a station officer, following
the death of a 65-year-old man allegedly during batoncharge in
Bansdeeh area here, a senior officer said here on Wednesday.
"A case of murder, vandalism and causing loss of property
has been lodged against 13 personnel including station officer
of Bansdeeh Vinod Kumar Sonker," Superintendent of Police V K
Shekhar said.
Last night, police allegedly batoncharged to disperse a
crowd in Mairitar village following a complaint of violation
of model code of conduct. Uday Narain Singh died during
commotion, sources said.
Police claimed that Uday died after falling from terrace,
while his kin alleged that he was pushed by some policemen.
Shekhar said a departmental inquiry has been ordered into
the incident which will be conducted by additional SP V N
Tiwari.
