Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court today
directed the Uttar Pradesh government to decide within a month
representations of farmers whose land had been acquired more
than a decade ago and who were yet to receive any compensation
for the same.
A Division Bench, comprising Justice Amitava Lala and
Justice Sanjay Mishra, passed the order while disposing of a
bunch of petitions filed by Harbans and others hailing from
Junaidpur, Sarai Jagannath and Boda villages of Bulandshahar.
The petitioners contended the state government had
acquired 317 hectares of land in the three villages in 1998
for which they were yet to receive any compensation.

invoke the urgency clause for acquiring the land as physical
possession of the same was not yet taken by the concerned
