to the most backward castes in the party`s state unit.
"In the Pradesh Congress Committee elections, Joshi
adopted a pick and choose policy and gave place to only those
close to her. Due to this there is resentment in the party,"
UPCC Secretary Chowdhury Lotan Ram Nishad said in a letter to
AICC chief Sonia Gandhi requesting her not to repeat Joshi as
"Making her state president again will not be "shubh"
(lucky) for the party", he said.
Of the 837 PCC members there were only 8 from the most
backward castes which constitute 38 per cent of the state`s
