Kanpur: Stepping up efforts for detection of adulterated food items and advocating preventive measures, the district authority here would soon launch an awareness
programme in various city schools.
Inspite of the on-going drive against the adulterators in the district, contamination of the edible items, vegetable oils and dairy products continues unabated, city Magistrate HP Shahi told a news agency.
An awareness programme regarding the detection of contaminated food items will be launched next week in various schools of the city, so that they can make other people aware of this menace, he said.
Shahi said that a book named `Milawat Inspector` would also be distributed among the students and a special team of district Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will inspect
various schools and demonstrate the procedures for detecting contaminated food items.
Posters and hoardings demonstrating action and punishments against the adulterators would also be put at various places in the city, he said.
In wake of the Holi festival in March, the authority will also initiate crack down measures against food contaminators in the district, he added.
